Mark Gaughan, MD, FAAD

Dr. Mark Gaughan was trained in Dermatology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He is trained in general dermatology, dermatologic surgery and laser surgery. Dr. Gaughan joined his father in practice at Durango Dermatology in 2001. Special interests include treatment of skin cancer, laser surgery, Mohs surgery, and treatment of aging skin.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Gaughan was a helicopter pilot in the Army flying UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters at Ft. Bragg, NC. He also served in Operation Desert Storm as a medical evacuation pilot and later served as the flight surgeon for the New Mexico Army National Guard and retired after over 20 years of service.

Dr. Mark Gaughan is a fellow in the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Mohs Surgery, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery. Additionally, he is a member of the American Medical Society, Colorado Medical Society, Colorado Dermatology Society, and the New Mexico Dermatology Society.

Raised in Durango, Colorado Mark enjoys the many activities and resources Durango offers.


Carmen Julian

Carmen Julian, DO, FAAD

Dr. Carmen Julian received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Ohio University. He began his medical career in emergency medicine and practiced for about nine years before completing an additional residency in dermatology. Since 2018, he has worked in dermatology in both Georgia and Texas. Dr. Julian practices in medical and surgical dermatology, including Mohs micrographic surgery. 

 He is a member of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology, the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Osteopathic Association, and the American Society for Mohs Surgery. 

Beyond dermatology, from 2004 to 2015, Dr. Julian served in the United States Air Force Reserve as both an Emergency Physician and then as a Flight Surgeon. 

 Dr. Julian moved to Durango in January 2023 with his wife and children, and enjoys outdoor activities the area has to offer such as camping, hiking, skiing, hunting, golf and mountain biking.


 Kristin Pogue, MPAS, PA-C

Kristin Pogue, MPAS, PA-C

Kristin Pogue is a board-certified physician assistant. She received her undergraduate degree in biomedical science from Texas A&M University. She joined the practice in 2006 after completing her Master's in Physician Assistant Studies at University of Texas Medical Branch. During her training, she began to focus on dermatology by completing rotations and research in the Dermatology Department at UTMB and performing additional clinical work at other university and private dermatology practices. Kristin's special interests are skin cancer prevention and education.

Kristin Pogue is a diplomate in the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and a member of the New Mexico Dermatology Society.

Since moving to Durango, Kristin has avidly pursued her passion for the outdoors with mountain biking, trail running, nordic skiing, and gardening.


Janelle Stewart

Janelle Stewart, MPAS, PA-C

Janelle Stewart is a board-certified physician assistant and joined Durango Dermatology in 2021. She received her Master of Physical therapy in 2000 and continued her education, receiving her Master of Physician Assistant in 2012 from the University of Utah. Beyond dermatology, Janelle has nearly nine years of clinical experience in internal/primary care medicine and urgent care. 

Her special interests include skin cancer prevention, education of dermatologic conditions, and treatment of acne across all ages.

She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Colorado Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.

Janelle has called Durango home since 2004 and enjoys activities the area has to offer including nordic, alpine, and backcountry skiing, mountain biking, trail running, and sharing adventures with her dog Greta. When not exploring the southwest, she is passionate about international travel and medical aid and education in developing countries.  


Cara Ascarrunz

Cara Ascarrunz, MPAS, PA-C

Cara Ascarrunz is a board-certified physician assistant and joined the Durango Dermatology team in the Fall of 2022. She received her undergraduate degree from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO with a major in general biology and minors in Spanish and international studies. Cara worked as a medical assistant in dermatology for two years prior to PA school. 

She graduated from University of Colorado - Anschutz Medical Campus in May 2022 having completed various surgical rotations including plastic surgery and dermatology. Cara is a diplomate candidate in the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and member of the Colorado Academy of Physician Assistants.

Cara was born in Utah and grew up in southern and midwestern states before moving to Colorado in 2012. Prior to entering the medical field she worked in natural resources with various education roles for environmental non-profits as well as city and state governments in Colorado.


 Robyn Chapman, BSN, RN, CANS

Robyn Chapman, BSN, RN, CANS

Robyn grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 1990 from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. She practiced 17 years with Cardiac Surgical patients then moved into aesthetic nursing. Since 2007, she has been an injector and a laser specialist at a Dermatology practice in Knoxville, TN. In 2016, she and her family moved to Durango. Robyn increased her knowledge and expertise by receiving her National Certification as an Aesthetic Nurse Specialist (CANS) in 2014. She has a passion for caring and listening to her patients in order to meet their concerns and enhance their natural beauty. She uses her aesthetic eye and skill to make her patients smile and feel good about themselves.

Robyn has been married 26 years and raised her 2 daughters in Knoxville, TN. She loves caring for her family and 3 dogs, and is also embracing all the beauty and outdoor activities of Durango. 


Lorraine Roche

Lorraine Roche, RN, Aesthetician

Lorraine joins Durango Dermatology as a registered nurse and licensed aesthetician. She has worked in medical aesthetics since 2007 and continued her education by becoming an RN in 2015. While she enjoyed many years working in a hospital environment, she is very excited to be working back in the medical aesthetic field. She is passionate about helping patients achieve healthy skin through our many services including laser, injectables, and customized skin care.

Lorraine was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, and moved to Colorado in 1994. For fun, she loves riding her horse, mountain biking, and snowboarding.


Kellie CANS

Kellie McCullough, RN, CANS

Kellie joins Durango Dermatology as a registered nurse and certified aesthetic nurse specialist with over 35 years of clinical nursing experience. She received her Associate of Arts Degree in Nursing from Clayton State College in Morrow, Georgia. After her degree, she went on to work  in various nursing  settings including  hospitals, oncology, and plastic surgery.  In 2016, Kellie  continued in medical aesthetics and specializes in injectables, sclerotherapy, lasers and skin care.  In 2021, she expanded on her knowledge and expertise by receiving the National Certification as an Aesthetic Nurse Specialist (CANS). Kellie is passionate about helping patients achieve their cosmetic goals through a comprehensive consultation and  creating a  personalized  anti-aging  regimen  for each individual.    

Kellie has  called Durango home  since 1992.  She is blessed with two wonderful daughters. She enjoys mountain biking, hiking with her dog and can be found skiing on the mountain or on  the lake with her family.
