SHAVE BIOPSY
1. Leave bandage in place until the day after the procedure
2. Clean biopsy site with soap and water (it is okay to shower) NO hydrogen peroxide
3. Apply Aquaphor or Vaseline to site & cover with a new bandaid/bandage until site heals
4. It may take 2-3 weeks for site to heal, or even longer if abnormal cells are still present
5. If biopsy site starts to bleed, apply direct pressure for 10-15 minutes
BIOPSY WITH SUTURES
1. If your biopsy has sutures, you may use hydrogen peroxide to remove blood
2. Do not allow sutures to be submersed in water (swimming pool/hot tub)
***Please call the office at 970-247-1970 if there are any signs of infection, excess pain or bleeding***
(some redness and weeping around biopsy site is a normal part of healing)
OCCASIONALLY, A BIOPSY MAY BE SENT TO AN OUTSIDE LAB FOR SPECIAL STAINS AND/OR ADDITIONAL CONSULT. YOU MAY RECEIVE A BILL FROM AN OUTSIDE LAB FOR THESE SERVICES.
