Professional Biography:
Dr. Mark Gaughan was trained in Dermatology at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine under Dr. R. Steven Padilla and Dr. E. Ben Smith. He is trained in general dermatology, dermatologic surgery and laser surgery. Dr. Gaughan joined his father in practice at Durango Dermatology in 2001. Special interests include treatment of skin cancer, laser surgery, Mohs surgery and treatment of aging skin. Prior to medical school, Dr. Gaughan was a helicopter pilot in the Army flying UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters at Ft. Bragg, NC. He also served in Operation Desert Storm as a medical evacuation pilot and later served as the flight surgeon for the New Mexico Army National Guard.

Professional Biography:
Following graduation from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Dr. Lawrence J. Gaughan had a mixed internship at St. Mary's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He then served as a Captain in the Army stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. After being discharged, Dr. Gaughan completed one year of radiology at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, then went to Galveston Island to finish his schooling in dermatology at the University of Texas Medical Branch. After he completed his residency at the University of Texas, Dr. Gaughan moved to Durango, Colorado in 1970 to start up a private practice. Dr. Gaughan has extensive training and experience in general dermatology, skin cancer surgery, laser surgery and Mohs surgery.

Professional Biography:
Kristin joined Durango Dermatology in October 2006 after completing her Physician Assistant education at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX. During her training she began to focus in on dermatology completing rotations in Galveston and spending additional time at other university and private dermatology practices. Kristin's special interests are skin cancer prevention and education. Since moving to Durango, Kristin has avidly pursued her passion for the outdoors with cycling, climbing and running. She also volunteers her time with a community initiative for primary care in LaPlata county. |

Professional Biography:
Dr. Heather W. Wickless is board certified in Dermatology. Wickless earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Studio Art from Texas Tech University. She then continued on to the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio to complete her doctorate of medicine, where she graduated with honors. She stayed in San Antonio where she completed an internship in Internal Medicine as well as her Dermatology residency training. At Northwestern University in Chicago, IL, Dr. Wickless was an Assistant Professor of Dermatology and the Director of Medical Student Education in Dermatology. Heather treats patients in general and cosmetic dermatology. Heather enjoys swimming, hiking, running, decorating and cooking

Professional Biography:
Dr. Scott C. Wickless is board certified in both Dermatology and Dermatopathology. He received his undergraduate from the University of Michigan Ann-Arbor and his medical degree from A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri. He completed his internship at Henry Ford Hospital and his dermatology residency at Michigan State University. In addition, he completed a one-year cutaneous oncology fellowship and a one-year Dermatopathology fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Wickless served as clinical faculty in the Departments of Dermatology at Northwestern University and Loyola University. He was also the Director of the Dermatopathology Unit at Hines VA Hospital and worked in the multi-disciplinary cutaneous oncology clinic at Northwestern University. Scott enjoys biking, running, alpine skiing, travel and film.
